William Jackson Hammond (Jack) was born in 1896 in Red Oak, Texas. He attended TCU and was ordained in 1922, received his B.A. in 1923, and his M.A. in 1924. He received his PhD from the University of California in1929. Hammond returned to Fort Worth and joined the history department as an associate professor in 1929, specializing in Latin American history, and achieved the rank of full professor in 1931. He continued teaching until his death in 1966, and served as department chair from 1934-196...
